Treatments offered

Treatments are planned after a consultation and a review of reports. HIPEC and major surgery are offered only when they are the right option for that patient.

01

Surgical Oncology Consultation

A first visit or second opinion to decide whether surgery is the right next step.

The consultation is the starting point for cancer surgery. Dr. Gandhi looks at the reports you already have, examines what the scans show, and says clearly whether an operation is needed, can wait, or is not the right treatment. Bring every report you have, including older scans.

  • Review of biopsy, imaging and previous treatment
  • Explanation of surgical options in plain language
  • A written plan for tests, surgery or further opinion

HIPEC surgery and peritoneal cancer treatment — Dr. Amit R. Gandhi, HIPEC surgeon Mumbai

HIPEC

Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, considered only for selected peritoneal cancers.

HIPEC is a procedure in which heated chemotherapy solution is circulated inside the abdomen after visible tumour has been removed. It is used for selected cancers that have spread along the peritoneal lining, such as certain appendix, colorectal, ovarian and peritoneal tumours. It is not suitable for every abdominal cancer. Suitability is decided only after staging and a surgical assessment.

  • Heated chemotherapy circulated in the abdomen
  • Usually paired with cytoreductive surgery
  • Offered after staging shows it is suitable

Cytoreductive surgery for peritoneal cancer — Dr. Amit R. Gandhi, Mumbai
03

Cytoreductive Surgery

Surgery to remove visible tumour from the abdominal cavity before HIPEC, when both are planned.

Cytoreductive surgery aims to remove tumour that can be seen in the peritoneal cavity. For selected patients it is performed in the same operation as HIPEC. The extent of surgery depends on where the disease sits and on the patient’s fitness. That decision is made after consultation, not from a website form.

  • Removal of visible peritoneal disease
  • Often combined with HIPEC in one operation
  • Extent decided from scans and findings in theatre

Gastrointestinal cancer surgery — Dr. Amit R. Gandhi, surgical oncologist Mumbai
04

Gastrointestinal Cancer Surgery

Surgery for cancers of the stomach, colon, rectum, appendix and related abdominal organs.

Gastrointestinal cancer surgery covers operations for tumours of the digestive tract and related organs. The approach — open, laparoscopic or endoscopic — depends on the tumour, prior treatment and what the scans show. Perioperative chemotherapy, when needed, is planned with the treating team.

  • Stomach, colorectal and appendix cancers
  • Open or minimally invasive surgery when appropriate
  • Coordination with chemotherapy plans already in progress

Gynaecological cancer surgery — Dr. Amit R. Gandhi, Mumbai
05

Gynaecological Cancer Surgery

Surgical care for ovarian, uterine and related gynaecological cancers, including cytoreduction.

Some gynaecological cancers, especially selected ovarian cancers, are treated with surgery to remove as much visible disease as possible. HIPEC may be discussed when the diagnosis and staging support it. Fertility, staging and prior chemotherapy all change the plan, so they are reviewed at the consultation.

  • Ovarian, uterine and related cancers
  • Cytoreductive surgery where indicated
  • HIPEC considered only for suitable cases

Breast cancer surgery consultation — Dr. Amit R. Gandhi, Mumbai
06

Breast Cancer Surgery

Surgical planning for breast cancer, including breast-conserving surgery or mastectomy when indicated.

Breast cancer surgery is planned from the biopsy, mammogram or MRI, and any treatment already started. The visit covers whether breast conservation or mastectomy is appropriate, and how surgery fits with chemotherapy or other care already advised.

  • Assessment of biopsy and imaging
  • Breast-conserving surgery or mastectomy when advised
  • Discussion of the place of surgery alongside other treatment

Soft tissue tumour and sarcoma surgery — Dr. Amit R. Gandhi, Mumbai
07

Soft Tissue Tumour Surgery

Evaluation and surgery for soft-tissue lumps and sarcomas that need a surgical opinion.

A new or growing soft-tissue lump should be assessed before it is removed. For suspected sarcoma, the biopsy route and the margins of surgery matter. The consultation decides whether imaging, a planned biopsy, or excision is the safer next step.

  • Assessment of soft-tissue lumps
  • Surgical planning for sarcomas
  • Advice on biopsy before a major excision

Minimally invasive and endoscopic cancer surgery — Dr. Amit R. Gandhi, Mulund Mumbai
08

Endoscopic & Minimally Invasive Surgery

Afternoon consultations at Shetty Endoscopic Surgical Centre, Mulund, when a less invasive approach may fit.

Shetty Endoscopic Surgical Centre in Mulund West is the afternoon clinic, Monday to Saturday. Minimally invasive or endoscopic surgery is discussed when the tumour and the patient’s condition allow it. When an open operation is the safer choice, that is explained at the same visit.

  • Consultations at Mulund West
  • Endoscopic and minimally invasive options when suitable
  • Clear advice when an open operation is safer
